Since the brain needs glucose to function properly, when there is an excess of sugar in your blood the same is true for the pancreas which produces insulin to help metabolize sugar into energy and release the glucose for other body functions.
Substitute Naturally Sweet Foods
In most cases, you will not develop a sweet tooth if your parents or other loved ones had one. It takes a long time before you reach the age where you can experience sugary foods and desserts. If you do not have an oral fixation already, you might just want to give it a shot in the health and fitness front and see how it can benefit you. Of course, when you do this you have to watch what you eat and make sure not to cross the line of becoming addicted to sugary foods and sweets.
If you want to battle your sweet tooth and develop a healthy relationship with sugar, the simplest way is to go on a strict sugar diet. This means you need to limit the amount of candies, chocolate, and other sugary foods that you can consume in a day and replace those with low-sugar alternatives like fruit, vegetables, and whole grain bread, cereals, and pasta. Of course, when you start seeing the changes in your body you might reconsider going back to your old habits. You deserve a break from sweets and feel great!
